You know what EVERYONE likes to read on FB? POETRY! So, here’s a poem to get your week started with rare and raw brio. I dedicate this work in progress to EVERYONE who serves the public-my brothers and sisters in arms!
Service with a smile
If, when you shop, you make a sport
Of bitching about a price
I recommend that you choose your words carefully
Because the terror of your life
Is far less than that of the lunatic
The poor devil selling you hamburgers
And heels and petroleum jelly
He cannot control
The vagaries of what
“The market will bear”
Any more than the prophet Mohammed
Can cure a hangover
And while you slice at him with smart talk
Keep in mind, he knows your face
He knows your rage
He knows that a band saw
Is the best device
For hacking through bone
And knowing this, he smiles
So, if next time you shop, you make a sport
Of bitching about a price
Expect service with a smile
And remember
Every smile’s a painted maw
Every smile’s a work of fiction
Every smile conceals a saw
Every smile’s a crucifixion
